Honda recalls 1.9 lakh cars across various models in India

The company, which is present in India through a wholly-owned arm Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), announced that it will voluntarily replace the Takata passenger front airbag inflators in these models, which were manufactured between 2003 and 2011. “The replacement will be carried out free of cost at HCIL dealerships across India in a phased manner. While the campaign for CR-V and Civic will begin immediately, the replacement of inflators for other affected models would begin from September 2016, and the company will communicate with customers directly,” HCIL said in a statement. Millions of vehicles have been recalled across the globe due to defective safety airbag manufactured by Japan’s Takata Corp. According to the company, the recall will affect 22,483 units of the premium sedan Accord manufactured between 2003-2011.
